Questions

How does the $100 partner budget game work?

You get $100 and a shop of 30 traits in five aisles: Feelings, Texting, Dates, Home and Fun. Each trait has a price, from $5 to $40. Add what you can afford, put things back to make room, then check out for a receipt with a verdict and your shopper type.

What are the shopper types?

The Emotional Investor: Most of the budget went to the Feelings aisle: someone available, clear and kind beats someone shiny. The Left-on-Read Survivor: Most of the budget went to the Texting aisle: fast, real replies matter more to you than a perfect profile. The Retired Planner: Most of the budget went to the Dates aisle: you want someone who plans, books and has an idea for date two. The Tuesday-Night Shopper: Most of the budget went to the Home aisle: the person who cooks, shows up on time and Venmos you back. The Vibe Curator: Most of the budget went to the Fun aisle: funny, good with your friends and up for karaoke. The Coupon Clipper: You left $35 or more unspent: a short list, and you’d rather wait than settle.

Why are there no looks or height traits?

On purpose. The store only sells how someone treats you: how they text, plan, show up and make you laugh. The receipt even says the looks department is closed.

Are the prices fair?

They’re made up, and arguing about them is half the fun. A shopper who leaves $35 or more unspent becomes the Coupon Clipper; otherwise your type is the aisle you spent the most on.

Do you save my cart?

No. The game runs in your browser and your picks are never sent anywhere. The receipt image is made on your phone too. There’s no sign-up and no email. If analytics is on, we only record that a receipt was printed and which shopper type came up, and, if you save or share the image, which type and how.
