Questions

What is a situationship?

A situationship is a romantic or physical connection that never got a label. You might text every day, hang out on weekends or spend the holidays together, but neither of you has said what it is or where it’s going.

Situationship vs. talking stage: what’s the difference?

The talking stage comes first: you’re texting and maybe going on a few dates to see if there’s something there. A situationship is what happens when you’re past that, acting like a couple in some ways, and still haven’t talked about what you are.

What do the five results mean?
  • Talking Stage: Season 4 (0–24%): Lots of texting, not much hanging out. The talking stage is fun, but this one’s on a loop.
  • Certified Situationship (25–44%): Couple energy some days, strangers on others, and nobody has said what this is.
  • Soft-Launched (Elbow Only) (45–59%): You’re showing up in their life, and their stories, in pieces. Something real is happening, just quietly.
  • Basically Dating, Nobody Told You (60–79%): Weekends together, their friends know you, the apps are gone. It’s a relationship in everything but the word.
  • Hard Launch Pending (80–100%): Their friends, the holidays, the deleted apps: it’s all there. All that’s left is saying it.
How long is too long to be “just talking”?

There’s no set number of weeks. A better sign is direction: are you seeing each other more, meeting each other’s people and making real plans? If it feels the same as it did months ago and that bothers you, it’s fair to ask.

Is this test accurate?

It’s a test for fun, built around everyday dating habits. The official index is the average of your nine answers, not a measure of anyone’s feelings. Only a conversation with the person can tell you what this is.

Do you save my answers?

No. The test is scored in your browser and your taps are never sent anywhere. The share images are made on your phone too. There’s no sign-up and no email. If analytics is on, we only record that the test was finished and which of the five results came up, and, if you save or share the image, which result and whether it was the story, the square or the share sheet.
