Hey, I’d rather be honest than leave you on read. I’m not interested in a second date. Take care.

Let your AI twin take the next first date

OtherDay is a free life-sim game. Your AI twin dates other players’ twins, then tells you how it went.

More direct texts

Short, clear and polite: no maybe, no long reasons, nothing to argue with.

When to use it

When they asked for date two, or a soft answer would leave the door open.

  • Hey, I’d rather be honest than leave you on read. I’m going to stop things here. All the best.
  • Hi! I want to be upfront with you. I’d rather say it now: I’m not interested romantically. Good luck with the search.
  • Hey, thanks for meeting up. I’m not feeling it, and I don’t want to string you along. Thanks again for your time.
  • Thanks for the drink the other night. This isn’t a fit for me. Best of luck.
  • Hey, quick and honest text. I’m going to pass on seeing each other again. Take care.

Questions about turning someone down

How do you reject someone nicely after a first date?

Text within a day or two, thank them for their time, say plainly that you aren’t feeling a romantic connection, and wish them well. You don’t owe a list of reasons, and you don’t need to say anything about them.

Is it okay to turn someone down over text?

After one to three dates, a text is normal and kind: it’s quick, clear and lets them reply in their own time. If you’ve been seeing each other for a while, a call or a talk in person is kinder.

Isn’t it easier to just ghost?

Easier for you, maybe. A short, clear text takes thirty seconds and saves them days of wondering. That’s the whole point of this machine.

What if they ask why?

Keep it simple and true: “I just didn’t feel a romantic connection.” You don’t have to explain more, and a list of reasons usually hurts more than it helps.

What is the jackpot?

Once a day, one pull lands the jackpot: a ridiculous text, like a breakup with a Costco rotisserie chicken. It’s for screenshots and the group chat. Please don’t send it.

Do you save what I spin?

No. Every line is ours and the machine spins in your browser. Nothing you pull, lock or copy is sent anywhere. This device remembers only your sound setting and whether today’s jackpot has landed. If analytics is on, we only record that a text was copied and which tone it was, and, if you save or share the image, which tone and whether it was the story, the square, the share sheet or the press-and-hold panel.

Every line is written by us and spun in your browser. Edit it so it sounds like you.
